The Reverend George William Allen was an important figure in a number of esoteric religious and cultural movements in America and Europe. This is the first serious scholarly attempt to define the man, his theology and philosophy and link him directly to movements that helped determine the cultural and religious avant-garde of the Western world from the 1880s to 1914.

This research monograph contributes to the fields of peace education, post conflict resolution, peacebuilding and conflict analysis by providing the first in-depth scholarly analysis of the Education for Peace program in Bosnia and Herzegovina by an independent scholar and researcher. It also provides an important systematic study of the “mainstreaming” process of peace education in post-conflict zones and the first substantial study to examine the interface between the substance of a program and the political process whereby they are tried, adopted, modified and finally mainstreamed.

Ella Young (1867-1956) the Irish poet, Celtic mythologist and author presents a number of problems to any researcher—she not only lived an Irish life of almost 60 years but she went on to have a dramatically different life in California that lasted over 30 years until her death. She also managed to write an autobiography that labeled her in many eyes as a Bohemian free spirit and not a a scholar with a vast knowledge of Irish myth and Celtic lore.

This soon to be released monograph evaluates the role of the social media in strengthening and transforming religious identities in the aftermath of the Arab Spring. Focusing specifically on Bahrain, this study assesses how the sectarian interpretation of the protests exacerbated social divisions and reverberated around the Middle East intensifying sectarian loyalties. The social media contribute to negotiation and re-construction of the collective identities of the groups involved in the 2011 uprising, which is visible through their online manifestations.

This research monograph is an historical study of the Baptist Bible Fellowship and its connections with segregation during the 1950s. It includes an examination of some of its key founders and their views of segregation and observes some of the crucial figures who fought for racial equality and integration within this organization.

This work is a major investigation of the questions of war and peace in Black Africa by Africans with an emphasis on the philosophical, theological and political underpinnings of contemporary African thought and practice. The voices are overwhelming African and the locus of contributors includes Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda and Malawi. Some of the contributors, as well as the editors, have experienced war first hand and have played honorable roles in rebuilding or re-energizing intellectual communities in Africa that have been affected by atrocities, destruction and inter-tribal hatreds.

Though many of the founders of this Baptist denomination were segregationists (which could be considered racist in and of itself) some of these individuals held blatant racist views of white supremacy.

This work has grown out of a previous study entitled Mary Elizabeth Braddon and the Jewish Question: A Victorian English Novelist and the Worlds of Anglo-Jewry, Zionism and Judaism, 1859-1913, which focused solely upon Braddon’s novels and used them as a lens through which the changes in the Anglo-Jewish community throughout her lifetime could be charted within her work.
