Dr Nall's monograph uses a title that may seem familiar since it is a tribute to Val Plumwood’s classic ecofeminist work ,Feminism and the Mastery of Nature(Routledge). Nall, like Plumwood, explores the dominant Western discourse around gender and childbirth. The research examines the connections between the understanding of women and nature and the construction of pervasive conceptualizations and practices of childbirth. It also examines the relationship between conceptualizations of men and masculinity, culture and nature, and childbirth.

This research study,one of the first of its kind is a controlled comparison of the effectiveness of two established psycho- physiological treatments on the reduction of stress and behavior-related clinical cardiac symptoms in Type A Executives utilizing a brain-based Neurofeedback or electro- encephalography (EEG) treatment for one randomly selected and assigned group and a Heart Rate Variability treatment for a second group. A third non-treatment group was also measured as a control factor, in order to be able to make a statement regarding potential generalizeability of the outcome possible.

This is the first serious attempt to meld the use of technology, action research and workplace learning. The book will focus on practitioner-research accounts from a range of workplace settings e.g. education, nursing, community, industry and training. This is a scholarly monograph informed by mediation on practical applications and theoretical discussion.
